Ingredients
Cookies
- 1 ½ cups butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 5 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
Icing
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla and lemon juice.
- In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients together.
- Combine dry ingredients into wet and mix well.
- Chill dough one hour.
- Roll dough out ¼-inch thick and cut out with cookie cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake at 400° F for 6 to 8 minutes – do not brown.
- Cool and frost with cream cheese icing and decorate as desired.
