Ingredients

Cookies 

  • 1 ½ cups butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 5 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Icing

  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
  1. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla and lemon juice.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients together.
  3. Combine dry ingredients into wet and mix well.
  4. Chill dough one hour.
  5. Roll dough out ¼-inch thick and cut out with cookie cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  6. Bake at 400° F for 6 to 8 minutes – do not brown.
  7. Cool and frost with cream cheese icing and decorate as desired.
